Princess Diana was born into royalty. Her father was Edward John Spencer and her mother was Frances Ruth Burke Roche. People had said that they both were seeing other people while they were still married and that caused their marriage to end. ("Princess Diana Biography").
Princess Diana thought that the reporters and all the attention she was getting, was the reason that her marriage fell apart. After Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorced, Diana started to struggle with depression, bulimia, and she had one suicide attempt. Princess Diana used that to her advantage. She wanted to start to help other women with similar problems to hers. She also started to pay more attention to her sons and not the press as much ("Princess Diana Biography").
One thing that made Princess Diana different from most rulers was the fact that she used her royalty to benefit other people in Britain. She started off by showing that she was more than just another princess and didn’t use her royalty in a selfish way. She showed that she was just like anyone else when she talked about her depression. Talking openly about her struggles was just the beginning. Princess Diana was involved and helped over one hundred different charities around the world. One of her charities was The Diana, Princess of Wales Fund. Diana helped to raise awareness about eating disorders and AIDS. She did a lot of work with the National AIDS Trust. The National AIDS Trust helps to find information, teach people, and help to treat people who have HIV/AIDS.
